Tasting Notes
Negroamaro, (locally known as Niuru Maru), is the quintessential Italian grape. It's only really grown on the heel of the boot of Italy and comes with dark fruits, plenty of acid, and a little heap of tannins. This example from l'Archetipo opens up with a nose of red and blue fruit, a touch of leather, and fresh herbs, while the palate is earthy, characterized by dried fruits and long, lingering tannins. A perfect countryside red. RUSTICO EARTHY FULL BOLD FOOD-FRIENDLY
Pairing Suggestion
Puglia is known as a region for the big, hearty vegetables it produces, like cauliflower, broccoli rabe, and chicory. We’d recommend bringing these to the party when looking to pair. A grilled pork sausage with a side of grilled chicory, roasted chicken with broccoli rabe and béarnaise, or a simply roasted head of cauliflower with tahini and fried herbs will all be quite lovely.
