France
Labeled as Vin de France, (the generic French appellation), these grapes actually come from the Côte Roannaise, a region just west of Beaujolais and not too far from the Rhone. Because of the granite and volcanic soils there, these wines have a bit more cut and thrust than the typical blackberry and raspberry notes you might find in Beaujolais. With sheer mineral notes, earthy olive elements, and a touch of tangerine, this wine has it all and a bit more, complemented by the layers of fruit the Grenache and Syrah provide. It's a beautiful wine from a place that's only going to grow in popularity as the years roll on. VIBRANT EARTHY MULTI-FACETED JUICY SERIOUS
Because this wine is made just miles away from Lyon, France's culinary capital, we recommend dipping your toe into classical French territory when pairing with food. A traditional cassoulet with duck sausage, a plate of Boeuf Bourguignon, or a classic Steak Béarnaise will all do excellently. For plant-based options, the earthier and deeper the better; grilled mushrooms or eggplants are ideal.
