Austria
One of the things we love about Austrian red wine is the character of the fruits. It's usually dark and brooding, but made interesting by lots of zippy acidity. This Zweigelt from Grüber Roschitz opens up with a meaty, savory nose and the same dark blue fruits, moving to an earthy, fruit-driven palate, substantial tannins, and a mineral finish. BROODING EARTHY GRIPPY BRISK TANNIC
Like Beaujolais, we've found most Austrian red wine is an excellent match for burgers and barbecue, although the delicacy and slight herbaceousness of this wine also make it a great match for pizza, too!
