Alsace is one of the most unique geographical sites in France - thanks to eons of intense activity under, and above the ground here, there are an immense number of different soil types, so many very different grapes can do well here. The Drôle d'Oiseau takes Silvaner, Riesling, and Muscat and renders a fabulously attractive white, with stone fruit, saline, and orange blossom on the nose, and a textured palate with plenty of white peach, and a brisk, mineral finish.
A great wine to enjoy on its own, this white will be lovely beside herbaceous fish dishes like cod in parsley sauce, or salmon sorrel, and will do just as well beside hard alpine cheeses.
