France
Labeled as Vin de France, (the generic French appellation), these grapes actually come from the Côte Roannaise, a region just west of Beaujolais and not too far from the Rhone. Because of the granite and volcanic soils there, these wines have a bit more cut and thrust than the typical blackberry and raspberry notes you might find in Beaujolais. With sheer mineral notes, earthy olive elements, and touch of tangerine, this wine has it all and a bit more, complemented by the layers of fruit the Grenache and Syrah provide. It's a beautiful wine from a place that's only going to grow in popularity as the years roll on. VIBRANT EARTHY MULTI-FACETED JUICY SERIOUS
Because this wine is made just miles away from Lyon, France's culinary capital, we recommend dipping your toe into classical French territory when pairing with food. A traditional cassoulet with duck sausage, a plate of Boeuf Bourguignon, or a classic Steak Béarnaise will all do excellently. For plant-based options, the earthier and deeper the better; grilled mushrooms or eggplants are ideal.
