This wine from the charming Pech d'André estate is made with a “teinturier” grape, or a red grape with not only red skin, but also red juice. In a blend, it’s a great candidate for adding depth and color to the wine, but on its own, it can be difficult to tame. Pech d'André leaves the juice in contact with the skin for only three nights, (the "Trois Nuits d'Alicante), which still imparts a gorgeous color, but also allows for the more delicate aspects of the varietal to come through. Beginning with dark, brooding fruit and minerality upon entry, there’s a surprising lightness to the finish. Enjoy with your favorite wine nerds! ONE-OF-A-KIND DARK FRUITY ELEGANT RUSTIC
A unique wine like this welcomes some experimenting. It'll be great with a simple, beer-braised sausage and sauerkraut plate, but will also do well with the cuisine from neighboring Spain. Think well-seasoned paellas, jambon iberico and cheese, or a spiced white bean stew.
