Tasting Notes
While orange wine may seem like the new kid on the block, these characterful white wines with extended skin-contact have been made and refined in northern Italy for generations now. This orange from one of our favorite growers is a great example of this exact kind of precision. Beginning with classic aromas of orange blossom and black tea, along with ripe citrus fruit, the palate is assertive and full-flavored, with bright citrus elements and a healthy lick of tannin in the finish. A great, classical orange.
Pairing Suggestion
We may have more fun pairing orange wine than any other category, and this is a perfect bottle to test out some of your grandest hypotheses! There may be no better pairing for orange than a classic roast chicken with lots of seasoning and plenty of bastings, although a yakitori menu will also be very appealing. On the vegetable side of things, the herbal nature of a wine like this makes it a great match for herbaceous fennel or bitter salads, or roasted squash or sweet potato with all of the fixins.
