Blauer Portugieser is one of those grapes that's harder to find in the wild but makes really unique and compelling wines. This wine has an inky bluish or blackish color, and that same darkness comes through on the nose. Dense blackberry and plum notes arrive first, moving to a palate that's surprisingly fresh with lots of flavor and complexity, finishing with just a lick of food-friendly tannin.
